This watercolour would have been Knighton-Hammond working at speed. The cattle are sketched very freely and are silhouetted against the blue sky. The composition is in the main a cloud study and is strong in light and colour and the watercolour gives luminosity.  Even as Knighton-Hammond was getting older he would still be out and about painting in the open air with great enthusiasm.
