This early watercolour of part of the main street running through Cleobury Mortimer is colourful and immediately carries the spectator down the road such is the perspective. The different styles of architecture are well depicted. One can almost feel the surface of the pavement. The figures and horse and cart give scale and movement to the composition and the atmospheric blue on the horizon further adds to the depth.
