This coaching scene in Hyde Park was probably painted soon after the artist moved from Nottingham to London in 1900. The coach being pulled by four horses is clearly on the move. The coachman and passengers riding on top of the coach are in their Edwardian finery. There is probably more passengers inside. There is a lone rider following the coach and a dog giving chase. Coaching, hunting and race meeting scenes were subjects the younger artist was producing to help pay his rent and get him through the tough times.
