Knighton-Hammond was engaged by the Government and British Dyes during the First World War to illustrate the buildings and processes taking place as part of the war effort. This munitions plant shows Knighton-Hammond’s skilful draughtsmanship with perspective. A busy scene with workers going about their duties. A man is working from a ladder attaching lines to stabilise a pole which give an indication of scale. Light and shadow give a sense of atmosphere to the composition.
