A striking portrait of a young woman confidently posing looking directly at the artist and as such the spectator. The face is superbly modelled with impasto oil paint. There is the hint of a smile probably as a response to the artist working away behind his easel. Whilst the portrait is unsigned there is no doubt this is the work of Knighton-Hammond and has also been certified as such in an inscription verso by the artist's daughter.
