The Dow Chemical Company Main Office Building creates a delightful composition with the office building juxtaposed with the industrial plant in the background. It would appear to have been painted in the autumn as the trees are losing their leaves. The seasonal light and colour give the picture great depth and atmosphere. The people and early motor cars bring a human touch and scale to the composition. This is believed to have been one of Herbert Dow's favourite pictures by Knighton-Hammond. Mr Dow's car is half hidden in the portico area of the office building on the left.
