This watercolour of The Terrace Steps looking towards the Hall would date from around the late 1890s or early 1900s. The south east elevation of this impressive, historic building is extensively covered in foliage. Knighton-Hammond cleverly uses different brushwork to give textures to the different foliage of the grass, hedge, plants and trees in watercolour. The steps with the masonry balustrading shows skilful perspective along with the seat. The young artist was beginning to show maturity in the quality of his work.
