The emblematic architecture demonstrates Knighton-Hammond’s virtuosity with his draughtsmanship. Painted in direct watercolour, with no under drawing, with great freedom yet great accuracy with regards to linear perspective. The artist has not been slavish representing detail instead relying on the Impressionist approach which is completely convincing. The sea reflects his instinctive feeling for light, colour and tone bringing luminosity and clarity to the composition.
